Prescription maker for pediatricians

Paediatric prescribing needs the child’s weight and age visible on the prescription, and doses in millilitres rather than tablets. Both are first-class fields here.

What changes for you

Weight and age print on the prescription

Age in years and months, plus weight in kilograms, are recorded per prescription and appear on the printed document where the pharmacist can see them.

Millilitre dosing, not tablet counts

Dose units are free text, so 2.5 ml, 5 ml or 7.5 ml are all first-class. You can save the same syrup several times at different strengths.

No automatic dose calculation

Deliberately. Weight-based dose calculation is a clinical decision-support feature with a very different safety and regulatory profile, and guessing at it would be dangerous. You enter the dose.

A starting medicine library

Add these once with your usual dosage and they are one keystroke away afterwards. Nothing here is prescriptive — it is a starting point you edit, replace or ignore.

  • Paracetamol syrup 250 mg/5 ml — dose in ml, every 6 hours as needed
  • Amoxicillin suspension 125 mg/5 ml — twice daily, 5 days
  • Cetirizine syrup 5 mg/5 ml — at bedtime
  • ORS sachet — after each loose stool
  • Zinc syrup 20 mg/5 ml — once daily, 14 days

Questions

Does it calculate the dose from the child’s weight?

No. Recording weight is supported and it prints on the prescription, but the dose is entered by you. Automatic paediatric dose calculation is not a formatting feature and is out of scope for this product.

Can I record age in months?

Yes — age is stored as years and months, so an eight-month-old is recorded accurately rather than rounded to zero.
